This message was delivered at Ferdowsi Hall,
Iran Embassy in Tokyo, on the occasion of the ceremony of the tying of the first knot of the memorial Persian carpet for the World Cup of South Africa in 2010. The original message was written in Persian, translated into Japanese, and then into English. ![]() In the Name of God,
![]() I was greatly pleased when I was informed that Master Hossein Kazemihamed had decided to make an artistic attempt at weaving a valuable Persian carpet to commemorate the Soccer World Cup South Africa 2010. The joy and excitement of the soccer game, one of Iran’s national sports, and the delicacy and elegance of the hand-woven Persian carpet together symbolize the weaver’s knot; contemporary western reform is the weft and oriental tradition, the warp. I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to both Master Kazemihamed and the staff of Sun Ai Carpet, sponsors of the memorial Persian carpet project. I sincerely wish that this work of art become a symbol for world peace and an expression of the spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding among all races. Seyyed Abbas Araguchi
