Memorial Persian Carpet for the World Cup of Germany in 2006
This Memorial Persian Carpet for the World Cup of Germany in 2006 is lager
than its predecessors.
A greater number of knots and colors were used to create this single work
of art.
This carpet was designed by Mr. Kazemihamed, who, for the first time used
a computer to create the scheme and the template/blueprint that was used
to produce the carpet. Traditionally, artisans use
hand-drawn sketches.
The national flags of the participating teams are woven into the sides of the carpet. The Berlin Stadium occupies the center. Mr. Franz Beckenbauer, most respectable soccer player in Germany, is positioned to the left, and Mr. Joseph S. Blatter, FIFA president, is at the right. The Brandenburger Tor, a symbol of Berlin, is embossed at center bottom surrounded by the citadel of Persepolis, registered as a World Heritage Site in Iran. Doves, symbols of peace, are also worked into the design.
The total number of days needed to produce this carpet was 150 with
6 craftsmen working round the clock.
This carpet is now part of a private collection in France.
