Memorial Persian Carpet for Soccer World Cup Korea/Japan 2002
This time, he designed the carpet by himself and supervised the whole production
process. Creating this design was challenge since he had never been to
Japan or to Korea. He solely relied on research he conducted by scouring
newspaper and magazine articles available in Iran.

At the centre of the design is the Saitama Stadium 2002 with the Seoul Stadium at the bottom left, and the Yokohama Stadium at the bottom right. The flags of the participating countries are aligned on either side of the carpet, with the teams that played in Japan on the left, and those that played in Korea on the right. Some flags bear numbers representing the number of times that team has played in the World Cup. Along the top and bottom edges are the countries that have played host to the World Cup. And the all-important symbols of peace are the doves that are depicted in the upper central area.
The total number of days needed to produce this carpet was 150 days with
6 craftsmen working 24 hours a day.
This carpet is now in a private collection in the United-Kingdom.
