How Persian Carpet Memorial for the FIFA World Cup was Born
Iranian artist Mr. Hossein Kazemihamed first had the idea of creating a carpet for the FIFA World Cup 11 years ago. Since his childhood, he had always been an avid soccer fan. When in his twenties, he himself played soccer for his native city team, Tabriz. While enjoying the sport, he studied, learned, and mastered the trade of Persian carpet weaving and darning. His talent, skills, and artistry were quickly recognized, and he embarked on a successful career as an artist of traditional Persian carpet weaving.
Mr. Kazemihamed thought of consolidating his livelihood and love of soccer
to create a unique work of mastery that would be dedicated to the FIFA
World Cup. And since soccer is the most popular sport in the world, the
carpet would be a gift of honor and a pledge for peace to the brotherhood
of mankind. This is how the World Cup Memorial Persian Carpet project
was born.

1998 France 2002Korea/Japan 2006 Germany
The first carpet produced was for the World Cup of France in 1998. The second one was created for the World Cup of Korea-Japan in 2002, and a third for the World Cup of Germany in 2006. These three unique masterpieces won Mr. Kazemihamed the “Award of Honor” from the Tehran Society of Carpet Darners Guild Union. His works also received acclaim from the Ministry of Commerce of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
It is pleased to announce that Mr. Kazemihamed has successfully completed
production of the Memorial Persian Carpet for Soccer World Cup South Africa
2010 as originally planned.
